No Data Corruption & Data Integrity
See what No Data Corruption & Data Integrity is and how it can be good for the files inside your web hosting account.
Data corruption is the unintentional modification of a file or the loss of information that usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason can be hardware or software failure, and as a result, a file could become partially or entirely corrupted, so it'll no longer function correctly as its bits will be scrambled or lacking. An image file, for instance, will no longer present an accurate image, but a random combination of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack because its content will be unreadable, and so on. In case this kind of a problem occurs and it is not recognized by the system or by an administrator, the data will get corrupted silently and in case this happens on a drive that is a part of a RAID array where the info is synced between various drives, the corrupted file will be duplicated on all other drives and the harm will be permanent. Many widely used file systems either do not feature real-time checks or don't have good ones which can detect an issue before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a very common problem on internet hosting servers where large volumes of info are kept.
No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Shared Hosting
We've resolved the issue of silent data corruption on our shared hosting servers by using the hi-tech Z file system, or ZFS. The latter is better than other file systems since it is the only one out there which checks all the files instantly by using a checksum - a digital identifier that is unique for each and every file. When you upload content to your account, it will be stored on several NVMe drives and constantly synchronized between them for redundancy. ZFS regularly examines the checksum of all files and if any file is detected as corrupted, it is replaced immediately with a good copy from another disk. As this happens in real time, there's no risk that a corrupted file may remain or may be duplicated on the rest of the NVMes. ZFS requires a lot of physical memory to execute the real-time checks and the advantage of our cloud web hosting platform is that we take advantage of multiple very powerful servers working together. In case you host your websites with us, your info will be intact no matter what.
